Assalamu Alaikum

Ramadan, the month of revealing Quran and the month of seeking Allah’s mercy, forgiveness and salvation from Hell-fire is back. Thanks to Allah Sbht. and ask his blessing for being able to observe another Ramadan InshaAllah.

Following long tradition of hosting CIC’s Saturday iftar/dinner during Ramadan started in early 2000 by handful of Bangladeshi families. The Bangladesh community in Canberra will be providing iftar/dinner again for the Muslim community in Canberra and surrounding area on 24 June 2017.

Despite similar other events occurring in other parts of the city and rising cost of food, families supporting the events for past years have overwhelmingly agreed to keep the tradition alive and support the event as this has been a practical reflection of their religious and cultural representation to the next generations. Considering your past record of contribution to this event, the community is again seeking your generous donation, support and inviting you, your family and friends to attend CIC’s ifters on all Saturdays except the 1st Saturday 10 June (probably at the city Centre) during the holly month.

Last year 40 Bangladeshi families donated about $4365 for the ifter/dinner, attended by about 600 persons from various community.

Your contribution was used for buying food, ifter items, disposable items (cups, glasses, plates etc) and other CIC’s ifter related expenses/activities (e.g. cleaning). Food just cost about $6.30/person. Also about $400 + left over money had been donated to CIC’s much needed ongoing mosque construction project. May Allah reward all who attended, donated money for the ifter/dinner and those who supported the event but could not join due to other commitment.

You can pay your contribution by:
1. E-transferring/internet banking to Westpac Bank BSB: 032719 Account No.: 153856 (pl include “BD Ifter contribution”);
2. confirming your contribution amount to any of the Bangladeshi brothers listed below; and
3. pay your committed confirmed contribution amount on the Saturday 24 June 17 in person by cash, cheque or by EFTPOS at CIC (CIC has a EFTPOS machine).

An early confirmation on your contribution is essential to help plan the menu and purchasing various dry and disposable items.
