Interview: Bangladeshi-Australians are among the top migrants
This was the core message from the Hon High Commissioner for Bangladesh in Australia H.E. Lieutenant General Masud Uddin Chowdhury, when Priyo Australia had an opportunity to talk to him on 29 November 2011. He is a great fan of Priyo Australia and all other community media portal including the community radios. The only concern he expressed is about the accountability of some of these media. He believes that lack of accountability may end up loosing confidence for those portal or media outlet which will be very sad. He was very proud of Bangladeshi Australians particularly their strengths in promoting Bangladesh, Bangladeshi culture and businesses. He has highlighted the need to ‘close the generation gap’ between the first generation migrants and their children. He also encouraged the community to come forward and commence some type of an interactive forum to bring these two generations together to discuss the way forward to reduce the gaps. He is happy to extend any support needed from the High Commission within his capacity to encourage future generation to become more familiar with Bangladeshi values, language and culture.
