Life time achievement for Bangladeshi Scholar in USA

Lamar University honored Kumer Das with the University Scholar Award April 8 in an award ceremony at the University Reception Center on the eighth floor of the Mary and John Gray Library. The University Scholar Award is the most prestigious research honor bestowed upon a faculty member. The award recognizes an individual for their outstanding contribution to scholarship, research, grant writing and/or creative activity. The University Scholar Award is a career/lifetime achievement, recognizing the recipient’s body of work.

Das is associate professor mathematics and director of the Office of Undergraduate Research. He is in his tenth year of service to Lamar and has earned the reputation as one of Lamar’s leading researchers. He has published 17 peer refereed articles, a book chapter, and nine proceedings papers in the past five years. Das has secured approximately $2.5M in research and other forms of external support, received several prestigious professional awards and has guided dozens of students to successful starts as researchers and scholars.
