Dear respected community members,
‘Esho hey boishakh esho esho…’ – the first day of Bangla New Year 1420 ‘Pohela Boishakh’ is on the horizon! Pohela Boishakh is a festival that roots deep into our identity as Bengalis. Back home the musical soiree at dawn, the traditional festive rally of the fine arts institute, the countless melas all bring out the Bengali within us.
Dear friends, Australia Bangladesh Association in conjunction with other Bangladeshi cultural groups, organizing a day-long event Boishakhi Mela on Sunday 14th of April 2013 at Princes Park, Carlton North, Melbourne VIC 3054. Details are:
Date: 14th April (Sunday) 2013
Time: 11:00 am to 9:00 pm
Venue: Princes Park, Lawn – 3 (Beside Optus Oval & Opposite of Melbourne Zoo) Carlton North, Melbourne VIC 3054 Melway Ref: 29G12 or 43G1
The event will consist of orchestrating cultural performances including band and solo songs, dances, fashion shows and poetry recitation and arrays of stalls boasting assortment of foods – sweets/savoury and Deshi jewelleries / garments / apparels.
There will also be ample fun activities for kids including rides, face paintings and so on and so forth.
Entry Fee: $2 per adult (12 years and above). This is to cover the part cost of hiring portable toilets, generator, cool room and security personnel as per council requirement.
