Charity Concert for Pakistan Flood Victims postponed

Charity Concert for Pakistan Flood Victims postponed

Dear Sir/Madams,

As a result of the AFL Grand Final and the subsequent replay on Saturday October 2 at 2:30pm, Federation Square will be televising the match on ‘The Big Screen’. As the BMW Edge is not soundproofed, any outdoor events such as this will make any concurrent concert at the BMW Edge unfeasible. Due to this, we have unfortunately been forced to postpone the Concert for Pakistan. We will do our best to inform you of the exact details of the postponed event as soon as we can. We will personally contact those of you who have purchased tickets and ensure you will receive a full refund.

We thank all of you who have supported this event and more importantly, this cause. We hope to see you in the near future and that your continuing support will make this concert a tremendous success.

Thank you,

Prashanth and Arunava

Dear All,

Pakistan is suffering from the effects of the greatest humanitarian disaster in recorded history. The area flooded would cover the entirety of Central Europe – currently, over 20 million people have been affected by the flooding with over 3 million children at risk of contracting water-borne diseases. Pakistan has lost thousands of acres of farmland and the economy has been crippled by this disaster.

Despite the enormity of the …situation, the international community has been dispassionate and excessively slow to act. The United Nations estimates that over USD$500 million is needed for emergency relief, yet aid organisations are unable to meet the demands of the situation due to a lack of funding.

To help raise funds and awareness, Smile Charities, with support from the Australian Institute of International Affairs, are running a sub-continental classical concert featuring renowned local artists to raise funds for Oxfam Australia’s flood relief efforts.
