Bangla New Year 1417 ‘Pohela Boishakh’  on 24 April in Melbourne

Dear respected community members,

‘Esho hey boishakh esho esho…’ – yes folks the first day of Bangla New Year 1417 ‘Pohela Boishakh’ is on the horizon! Pohela Boishakh is a festival that roots deep into our identity as Bengalis. Back home the musical soiree at dawn, the traditional festive rally of the fine arts institute, the countless melas all bring out the Bengali within us.

Dear community, Australia Bangladesh Association in conjunction with other Bangladeshi cultural groups, organizing a day-long event Boishakhi Mela on Saturday 24th of April 2010 at Chandler Community Centre. Details are:

Date: 24th April (Saturday) 2010
Time: 11:00 am to 5:00 pm
Venue: Chandler Community Centre, 28 Isaac Road, Keysborough VIC 3173; Melway Ref: 89F6

The event will consist of orchestrating cultural performances including songs, dances, jatra, kabadi, putul nach and poetry recitation and arrays of stalls boasting assortment of foods – sweets/savoury and Deshi jewelleries/garments/apparels.
