Message of High Commissioner on the occasion of Victory Day 2011

MESSAGE FROM HIGH COMMISSIONER

16 December 2011

On this auspiscious occasion of the Victory Day of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, I on my own behalf and on behalf of all my colleagues in the High Commission wish to convey our congratulations and warm greetings to all the members of Bangladesh community living in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. We also take this opportunity to convey our warm wishes to the Governments and people of Australia, New Zealand and Fiji for the continued generous support provided to us since the War of Liberation till date.

At this auspicious moment of the Victory Day my deepest respect to the Father of the Nation Banglabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and all the other leaders who have led the Nation to achieve Victory through a glorious War of Liberation in 1971. I salute and pay my deep homage to all the valiant fighters who made supreme sacrifices and presented us the independent Bangladesh. My respect is to all those millions of people who withstood all the sufferings yet supported the War of Liberation. I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to all those foreign nationals who contributed in our War of Liberation in various ways.

On this day I wouild urge upon all the members of Bangladesh Community living in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji to continue their valuable support to accelerate the socio-economic developments of our beloved motherland, and with your continued support I sincerely believe, Bangladesh will find its place as a dignified, democratic and secular country in the world.
