BSPC in Safe Hands
This is to inform all BSPC members, well-wishers and greater community members that the Supreme Court of NSW verdict given by Honourable Judge J. Ball on 2nd December 2011 resolved the ongoing disputes on running of the BSPC. In summary, Justice Ball held that the Executive Committee of BSPC headed by Mr Nirmal Chowdhury as President, and Mr Nirmalya Talukder as General Secretary elected on 6 February 2011 were validly elected. As a result of the judgement, Executive Committee elected on 6 February 2011 and subsequently elected committees will be running the BSPC for the benefit of its members without any doubt. The verdict also maintained previous injunctions against the defendants and directed the defendants to return all exhibits to the BSPC executive committee.
It is worth noting that the conflict broke down on 20th September 2008, when the then General Secretary Mr Apu Saha declared the dissolving of the pre-scheduled SGM in presence of the required quorum, and started to organise parallel events in association of the other defendants using the name of BSPC against the will and decision of general members. The defendants continuously refused to consult or work with the majority of members, and simultaneously misled the general members and community at large with fabricated information. Finally, BSPC was forced to take this issue to the Supreme Court of NSW on the 16th of December, 2010 and got an injunction order against the defendants on the 17th of December, 2010.
On behalf of the BSPC, the Executive Committee (EC) would like to extend its thanks and gratitude to all members of the community for their continued support throughout the conflicting period. The current EC is committed to do its best to restore our greater harmony, friendliness and mutual respect within the greater BSPC family. The EC is firmly committed to rebuilding the BSPC through improving its Societal openness, and upholding its motto, “Working together for our culture and values” as well as working towards embracing everyone beyond all differences.
LONG LIVE BSPC!
