Planning meeting for the ‘Mother Language Walk’ in Canberra

Dear Community members,

You might be aware that the Bangladeshi Community has been working on the International Mother Language Movement (IMLM) in celebration of the 21st of February (International Mother Language day) in Australia and establishing a “Shahid Miner” in Canberra.

We have been communicating few Australian Community Groups, Governments, political leaders and NGOs who have been working with multicultural and multilingual communities. We received an overwhelming response towards our ‘Mother Language Movement’ and the wider community is happy to take part in the 21st February 2014 celebrations by participating in the ‘Mother Language Walk’ on the day.

We are now planning to communicate mass level of stakeholders with formal letter in organising the ‘Mother Language Walk’ of 21st February 2014 and like to run a “planning workshop” with the broader community in late November this year.

Few Bangladeshi community members and few Bangladeshi groups are actively helping us in this process. But as we are moving towards a big milestone and we need more of the Bangladeshi community to volunteer in order to achieve such a National program initiative.

We are requesting you to join us for an hour and a half to discuss the communications strategies and planning the workshop for our mega program of ‘Mother Language Walk’ in Australia. Your professional and community skills will be of valuable support for the success of this event.

Date and venue: 5.30 pm to 7 pm, October 24th Thursday at the BAAC office at Civic [light refreshment will be provided]
