Book on Bangabandhu presented to Bangladesh High Commission
Bangabandhu’s Biography, edited by Monaem Sarkar and recently published by Bangla Academy, was presented by the editor to W. A. S. Ouderland Bir Pratik Library at Bangladesh High Commission in Canberra on Friday, 24 October 2008. During his visit to Canberra, Mr Sarkar handed two volumes of the book named Bangabandhu Shiekh Mujibur Rahman “Jibon o Rajneetee" to Acting High Commissioner Mr Mahbub Hasan Saleh for the Library. This library was established in memory and honour of Mr Ouderland who was awarded ‘Bir Pratik’ by Government of Bangladesh for his great contribution to the historic Liberation War. Mr. Sarkar urged Bangladesh community to read the biography of Bangabandhu to know the hero of our national Liberation movement. Mr Saleh appreciated the thoughtfulness of Mr Sarkar and thanked him for presenting the valuable books to the Library. Mr Kamrul Ahsan Khan , Convener, Ouderland Memorial Committee, was also present at the High Commission.
Book launching ceremony and discussion meeting was also held in Bonython in Canberra on 25 of October evening, which was also attended by local Bangladesh community in Canberra. Mr M Sarkar, Sahadat Manik, Dr Porag Das , Dr Ajoy Kar and Kamrul Ahsan Khan spoke on the occasion.
