Boishakhi Mela 1418 in Melbourne

‘Esho hey boishakh esho esho..’ – yes folks the first day of Bangla New Year 1418 ‘Pohela Boishakh’ is on the horizon! Pohela Boishakh is a festival that roots deep into our identity as Bengalis. Back home the musical soiree at dawn, the traditional festive rally of the fine arts institute, the countless melas all bring out the Bengali within us.
Dear community, Australia Bangladesh Association in conjunction with other Bangladeshi cultural groups, organizing a day-long event Boishakhi Mela on Saturday 16th of April 2011 at Princes Park, Carlton North, Melbourne VIC 3054. Details are:

The event will consist of orchestrating cultural performances including songs, dances, jatra, kabadi, face painting and poetry recitation and arrays of stalls boasting assortment of foods – sweets/savoury and Deshi jewelleries / garments / apparels.
