Request to join International Mother Language Walk on 21 February in Canberra

Dear all

Happy New Year!

I hope you are well and planning for lots of exciting activities in 2014.

Please consider International Mother Language Movement (IMLM) Australia as another exciting project for your list!

You are probably aware Australia is the only country in the world where people speaks all known languages in the world as part of their daily lives.

As a volunteer to the IMLM Working Group, it is my great pleasure to invite you and your families/friends to join us to support the International Mother Language Movement (IMLM), Australia.

The multilingual IMLM Working Group in association with the Bangladesh Australia Association Canberra Inc. has commenced this initiative last year.

Some of the other partners are Bangladesh High Commission in Australia, Bangladeshi Architects in Australia, National Congress for Australia’s First Peoples, FECCA, ANU, AIATSIS, CIT, ACT Bilingual Education alliance, mainstream Schools, Ethnic language schools and media and ACT Government.

As part of the Movement our first milestone is to host an inaugural annual community walk in Canberra on Friday 21 February 2014 between 5.30pm and 7.30pm.

The purpose of this Walk is to establish a very strong foundation to enhance community awareness about the significance of mother/heritage languages in Australia.

I have attached some brief documents on a proposed International Mother Language Movement (IMLM) and the Walk for your information.

We are seeking your involvement to this event firstly by joining us at the Walk followed by a more active role with the Movement.

I would also request you to share this event with your peers and network to encourage them to participate.

Please call me for further information.

Cheers.

Farhad
