42nd Victory Day on Sunday, 16 December

Bangladesh High Commission in collaboration with Bangladesh Australia Association Canberra (BAAC) will celebrate the 42nd Victory Day on Sunday, 16 December 2012 at Bangladesh High Commission, 57 Culgoa Circuit, O’Malley, ACT 2606.
Bangladesh attained independence on 16 December 1971 when Pakistani Army surrendered in Dhaka, ending 9 months of a long and bloody war of liberation. Since then 16 December is celebrated as the Victory Day all over Bangladesh and among Bangladeshis living abroad to uphold the spirit of liberation and to pay tribute to the three million martyrs; who laid down their lives for the independence. Victory Day is one of the special anniversaries that combine a shared emotion of both joy and sorrow.
To rejoice over the momentous occasion of Victory Day, a day long program comprising fair, film show and a vibrant cultural presentation have been organised.
