Invitation for the Canberra Muslim Community (CMC)-organised ''Eid Reunion and BBQ/Open Day

I am writing to formally invite you and your families to the Canberra Muslim Community (CMC)-organised ”Eid Reunion and BBQ/Open Day” event on the site of the CMC’s future Gungahlin mosque and community centre on the Valley Avenue (140 The Valley Avenue, Gungahlin) at the Gungahlin Town Centre (GTC) on Saturday 24 September 2011. This event is scheduled to commence from 10am until 3pm.
The main objective of the community gathering event is to introduce the new mosque site to the members of the community and to ensure togetherness, support and feedback of all Muslims in Canberra. This will also enable the community to share and rejoice whatever has been achieved to date with the mosque project in close partnerships with the ACT Government and its various instrumentalities, and with a range of Islamic and other Religious/Community organisations in the ACT, as well as with the members of the Diplomatic Missions from the Muslim countries based in Canberra, ACT.
Ms Joy Burch MLA and the ACT Minister for Community Services and the Minister for Multicultural Affairs has confirmed her availability to attend the event as our Special Guest at 12pm on the day. The CMC also expects a large number of invited guests who are likely to join us at the event, including the members of some diplomatic missions from the Muslim countries, community leaders, some members of the ACT Legislative Assembly, general members of the community, and many other guests. We are however expecting up to 400 people at the event.
The CMC is grateful to the ACT Government for the granting of a 99 years lease of a 5,490 square meters block of land to the CMC on 18 July 2011 for building the CMC’s mosque (including a community centre) at the GTC.
