Great chance to see both ‘Hori alone in Kolkata’, a Bangla film by local film director Paramita Roy and the Gamblers.
This is a fund raising event for Ken Ochiai. This evening also provides the opportunity to view the not-to-be missed film ‘Hori alone in Kolkata’ ,about a Muslim boy’s struggle to survive in Kolkata. Reviews and comments about ‘Hori alone in Kolkata’ are at www.paramitaroy.com
Further details about the evening are as follows.
Ken Ochiai, a young Japanese filmmaker is making a short film, entitled "The Gamblers", in Sydney. As the title of the film indicates the film is about taking risks, about venturing into the unknown, and learning to overcome one’s fears. The film will star Dannielle Hall, who played the female lead in Ivan Sen’s film "Beneath Clouds". Dannielle won the Best New Talent Award at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2002 for her performance.
We are organising a fundraising event for Ken’s film at 7pm on Saturday, the 4th of October at Hughes Community Centre. Filmmakers, musicians and the Arts Community of Canberra are working together to support this very talented film maker. On the day of the fundraising there will be the screening of films by local filmmakers, music and dance performances by local artists. Ken will also be there on the night to take questions and explain his motivations for making this film.
Tickets are $10 each, but anyone who donates $100 or more will have their names appearing in the end credits of the film and their sponsorship will be greatly appreciated.
We would like to take this opportunity to invite you and everyone in your community to attend this event and support Ken’s creative project. We welcome any assistance you may provide and your involvement will inspire Ken immensely.
