Council election result- Strathfield
Dear friends,
The final result for Strathfield was published this afternoon. As you may have read in the paper, unfortunately there has been a swing across the state against Labor.
Despite having a limited budget and in spite of the swing across the state, Strathfield Labor has won 2 positions, including myself as the leader. The liberal party that campaigned on Federal issues such as Carbon tax / boat etc spreading all kinds of myth that have nothing to do with councils, with arguably a bottomless pocket ( budget) , has won 3 positions. 2 other positions went to two different independent groups.
Given the hard work we put in and the kind support we received from the community friends, I expected a better result. But having known the swing against Labor across the State, I am happy with the result.
We valiantly fought an honest campaign and without your kind support we could not have achieved what we have achieved.
I am confident that with the experience we have gained and new contacts and friendships we have established, we will do even better next time.
As always, I shall do the best I can to support the community and build an increasingly better NSW and Australia for all Australians.
My sincere thanks to all who supported this campaign financially as well as with their time as volunteers. I also would like to thank all the well wishers who kept on inspiring me with encouragements.
Best regards.
Yours most sincerely,
Raj Datta
