Canberra Eid-ul Fitr Friday 17th July 2015 / 1436 (Updated with Lunar observations)
Shawal Moon over Canberra Skies on Eid Day (Friday 17th) evening with high Elevation and Long Duration (see HQ photo below) but not enough evidence to suggest second day moon says researchers. At time of birth the moon is totally black and impossible to see and not until another 17 or so hours passes before the new crescent can be sighted often more than a day later showing an older, larger and higher elevated moon than one would expect.
On a related update the Media Release from the Grand Mufti of Australia dated 16th July 2015 stated that I quote “According to a statement released in Mecca in 1433 (2012) by the International Conference for Moon Sighting and by a large number of Muslim astronomers and Scholars of high authority, it has been decreed and accepted by our office that “the difference in moon sighting does not contradict astronomical calculations””
Finally we may be seeing some guidance from the science on this hot topic. We continue our research and enhance our knowledge for the sake of Allah and our benefit.
