Overcast skies over Canberra City fails to show the Shawal Moon tonite. Brothers also made efforts in viewing from Mount Stromlo Observatory in the outskirts of Canberra. Tradition holds as the Canberra Mosque officially announces:

Eid-Ul Fitr 2011AD/1432H in Canberra has been confirmed by the Canberra Mosque to be on Wednesday 31th August, 2011, IA.

Shawwal 1432 Sighting Information

The topocentric new moon conjunction for the lunar month of Shawwal will occur on Monday, 29th August at 14.15 AEST (2.15pm Sydney time). The correct date to sight the crescent of Shawwal will be Tuesday, 30th August at sunset time.
