Celebration of the Independence and National Day 2016 at Bangladesh High commission, Canberra

The 46th Independence and National Day was observed on 26 March 2016, Saturday at Bangladesh High DSC02631Commission, Canberra in a befitting manner. As part of the programme, Bangladesh national flag was ceremonially hoisted by H.E the High Commissioner, Kazi Imtiaz Hossain in presence of all the officials of the Mission and expatriate community in Canberra at 9.00 a.m. Recitation from the Holy Quran and Doa were organized for the peace and salvation of the departed souls of the valiant freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the liberation of the country.

Messages of the Hon’ble President, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Foreign Minister and Hon’ble State Minister for Foreign Affairs were read out. In his welcome remarks, H.E the High Commissioner, Kazi Imtiaz Hossain recalled with deep reverence the great leader and the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and paid tribute to the freedom fighters and millions of martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for making Bangladesh independent under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The program was concluded by giving thanks to all participants.

In the second phase, as part of the celebration of the Independence and National Day, Bangladesh High Commission and Bangladesh Expatriate Community jointly arranged a musical performance by Ekushey Award Winning Sarod Maestro Ustad Shahadat Hossain Khan in the evening.

The 46th Independence and National Day Reception will be held at the Albert Hall, Canberra on Tuesday, 29 March 2016 in the evening.
