Chowdhury Sadaruddin’s contribution to the Islamic community in Darwin is significant. As President of the Islamic Society of Palmerston he has been working to establish a centre for the Muslim community in Palmerston to cater for the religious, cultural and social needs of the Muslim community. The Centre will serve as a venue for open days to promote harmony between Muslims and those of other faiths, strengthening the local community and fostering mutual respect and understanding. Humble e-mail from Chowdhury Sadaruddin, Darwin
Dear All,
Just to let you know that I have been nominated as the finalist in one of the category of Australian of the year awards called “Australia’s Local Hero” (See the link below). The person who nominated me is not from the Muslim or our subcontinent communities and did it with out my knowledge. He requested me not to disclose his name. Only thing I can tell is he has first hand knowledge of my involvements with the Muslim Community, Bangladeshi Community and the Darwin Port Welfare Centre. The award will be given on Monday the 24th at 05:30 PM at the NT Parliament House by the Chief Minister. I will be attending the ceremony with my wife and son..
I don’t believe that I deserve to be nominated and the chances of getting the award is also remote but its a good feeling to be in the list as finalist among 3500 nominees. I also like to share this good news with all of you.
Thanks.
