Outstanding Achievement of Bangladeshi Academic in USA
Dr Kumar Pial Das, an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the Lamar University, USA has been awarded the best advisor award, Dr. Melvin Brust Advisor of the Year Award, for the recognition of his student advisory role that successfully brought more overseas students, especially from Bangladesh, to the University. Dr Das is graduated in Statistics from the Dhaka University.
The award giving ceremony was attended by all concerning officials from the University and members from the Bangladeshi Community who believe that Dr Das’s award brightens Bangladesh’s reputation in USA.
Dr Das wants to follow the footsteps of his father, renowned Educationalist Late Rakhal Chandra Das, who established nearly 40 educational institutions, including Primary Schools, Girls High Schools, Colleges and Madrasas in Greater Rajsahi district, and won the Best Teacher Award in 1987 for his dedication to spread education among women and poor in Bangladesh.
Dr Das is the younger brother of Dr Parag Das, a medical practitioner, lives in Canberra, Australia.
