Subject: Meeting to discuss building a Permanent Cyclone Shelter in Bangladesh by the Community members in Australia

Dear All,

A meeting to discuss the proposal for financing the construction of a permanent Cyclone Shelter in Bangladesh will be held at the Association’s Office (65 Spurway St., Ermington) on 11/5/2008 at 11AM. The Acting High Commissioner for Bangladesh, Mr Ristadul Islam, will attend the meeting. He will provide a background to the proposal and how his office can help.

Bangladesh Australia Disaster Relief Committee (BADRC) cordially appreciates/invites your participation with valuable contribution so that a community based informed decision can be taken together in the light of our aspirations, abilities and feeling for the affected people.

BADRC has been working for more than last 9 years in raising fund for the flood/cyclone victims of Bangladesh. We have been receiving very good responses from the Bangladesh and wider Australian community in the fund raising process every year. For 2007 flood and Cyclone (Sidr) victims, BADRC have raised total of about A$ 40,000.00 through various fund raising activities.

BADRC in consultation with the Bangladesh High Commission and Bangladesh Govt, is planning to build a permanent Cyclone Shelter in the disaster prone area with the donation raised by the Bangladeshi and wider Australian community. Initial estimate to build a permanent cyclone shelter will be in the range of A$ 150,000 +.

Your co-operation, support and active participation will be highly appreciated.

Kind regards

Abdul Halim Chowdhury, Convenor, BADRC. E-mail: badrc1998@gmail.com, www.BADRC.org.au
