Climate Justice Fast: Media Release: Global Hunger Strike kicks off in Canberra
The Climate Justice Fast has started in Canberra and around the world in the lead-up to the United Nations climate negotiations in Copenhagen, which many see as the world’s last chance to forge an international deal to solve climate change.
The fasters particularly emphasise Australia and other Minority (‘developed’) world countries’ obligations to act swiftly, and take on deep reduction targets, and provide assistance for Majority (‘developing’) world countries to also shift to green economies.
They see their stance as ‘a moral response to an immoral situation’.
In addition to the group 80 other fasters in US, UK Canada, India and other country joined. In
Canberra Bangladesh Environment net work, Australia chapter Coordinator Kamrul Ahsan Khan joined as solidarity faster with others for 2 days for climate justice for people of the world and also for Bangladesh who is in the front line Global climate change catastrophe.
