Message of High Commissioner on the Occasion of Eid-ul-Azha
On the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, my wife and I convey our heartfelt felicitation and warm greetings to our nationals living in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. Eid-ul-Azha is one of the most important religious events celebrated by Muslims worldwide to commemorate the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim Khalilullah to sacrifice his son Prophet Ismail Zabihullah (peace be upon them) as an act of obedience to Allah. Eid-ul-Azha brings divine blessing for the Muslims. It is an occasion for not only enjoyment but also an opportunity for receiving Allah’s Mercy and reward through sacrifice and benevolence, patience and constancy.
On this solemn and sacred festival of Eid-ul-Azha, I wish all Muslims happiness, peaceful life and prosperity, and also urge them to pursue the right spirit of Islam through sacrifice and surrender, resignation and renunciation, selflessness and total submission to the Will of Allah. On this occasion, I would also like to call upon all members of Bangladesh community living in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji to work from their respective position to preserve harmony among people.
