An Appeal to Fund Research into low cost river bank protection in Bangladesh
Dear All,
One of my closest engineering friends whose name is Imdad is attempting to launch an appeal to fund research into low cost river bank protection in Bangladesh. Frequently there have been appeals for maszeed, medical treatment, floods, natural disasters etc. but as far as I know there have not been any appeals for research into preventative treatment which will be of national benefit. I have known Engineer Imdad for a very long time as an honest and reputable engineer who is currently carrying out river bank protective work all over Bangladesh. He is attempting to commence laboratory and field-testing with the help of Water and Flood Management of BUET.
He strongly believes that if his research is successful – “One new technique to overcome the sedimentation upon river bed through the harmful activities of conventional river bank protection works will be introduced”.
It would be very effective in helping to reduce the current river bank protection cost by up to 50%. Currently the cost of river bank protection works is one of the largest items in the annual budget of the Bangladesh Government
However funds will be needed in order to proceed with his proposal and he has tried without success to obtain research funding from the government. If you have any contacts with forward thinking people or organizations who may be interested in assisting Imdad with his work please contact him directly (email: mhs.dhaka@gmail.com) . I am sure that he would be very appreciative of your help and encouragement in his research.
