Machine Readable Passport (MRP)
The Government of Bangladesh has decided to introduce Machine Readable Passport and Machine Readable Visa from 01 April 2010. But, initially it will be issued in 10 regional Passport offices within Bangladesh. The facility of applying for Machine Readable Passport in this High Commission is currently not available. The Government has decided that holders of Bangladesh Passport living abroad can apply for “Emergency Passport” and “Renewal/Endorsement” of their present Bangladesh Passport to the Bangladesh Missions abroad until 31 March 2011.
For those (holders of Bangladesh Passport) who are living in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji are requested to note the following:
01. All concerned whose Bangladesh Passport will expire (five/ten years) after 31 March 2010, can apply for renewal of their Passport and it will be renewed up to 31 March 2011. The urgent fee for that will be A$23.00 and ordinary fee for that will be A$13.00. All concerned are requested to fill-in the passport renewal form (available in our website at www.bhcanberra.com) and send those to the High Commission for renewal with a fee of A$23.00 for urgent case( delivered within 3 working days) and A$13.00 for ordinary case (delivered within 7 working days). Other conditions regarding mode of payment and incoming and outgoing mail delivery system will remain unchanged. The fee for endorsement (name change/child inclusion etc.) will be A$23.00 for urgent delivery and A$13.00 for ordinary delivery.
02. Bangladesh High Commission in Canberra will continue to issue Emergency Passport (Hand Written) until 31 March 2011. The validity of the passport will be one (01) year from the date of issuance. The fee for an emergency manual passport will be A$46.00. All concerned are advised to fill-in the new passport application form (available in our website at www.bhcanberra.com) to obtain an emergency Passport with a fee of A$46. Other conditions regarding mode of payment and incoming and outgoing mail delivery system will remain unchanged.
