Admission of Foreign Students in the MBBS and BDS Courses in the Government-owned medical colleges in Bangladesh for 2010-2011 academic year under self-finance scheme
Health Directorate of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of Bangladesh Government has announced admission of foreign students in government Medical and Dental colleges for the academic year 2010-2011. This year 107 seats are reserved for the foreign students, 57 from SAARC countries and 50 from non-SAARC countries.
Criteria for Admission of Foreign Students in the MBBS and BDS courses in the Government-owned Medical Colleges in Bangladesh for 2010-2011 academic year under self-Finance Scheme are as follows:
A) Equivalence of Foreign Degree:
Must passed qualifying examinations (HSC/’A’ level or equivalent examination)
SSC/’O’ level or equivalent Examination passed not before 2007
HSC/’A’ level or equivalent Examination passed not after 2010
Minimum aggregate GPA in SSC and HSC: 8.00 (Eight)
Minimum GPA either in SSC or in HSC: 3.50
For calculation of GPA against the marks obtained in SSC/’O’ level or equivalent exam, only top 5 subjects are considered for calculation of GPA. Therefore, GPA in ’O’ level=(total marks obtained in top five subjects)/5.
For calculation of GPA against the marks obtained in HSC/’A’ level or equivalent exam, only 3 subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Biology ) are considered for calculation of GPA. Qualifying Grade in each subject individually is “C”. Therefore, GPA in ’A’ level=( total marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology)/5.
B) Application form: Duly filled in application forms in triplicate along with following documents and 6 passport size photos are to reach the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka latest by 10 October 2010.
i) Mark-sheet/Academic Transcript of SSC/’O’ level or equivalent exam passed not before 2007.
ii) Mark-sheet/Academic Transcript of HSC/’A’ level or equivalent exam passed not after 2010.
All certificates must be attested by the competent authority, that is the Foreign Ministry of the respective country and also authenticated by the respective Bangladesh Missions abroad.
The successful applicants will require to produce all academic certificates and mark-sheets in original during their admission.
C) Tuition Fees: For Government medical and dental colleges, students from SAARC countries will require to pay tuition and other fees at the rate charged to a Bangladeshi student. The students from other countries will require to pay US$ 3000/-(Three Thousand US dollars only/year) per academic year in addition to the tuition fees at the rate charged to Bangladesh students. Information regarding tuition fees for private medical and dental colleges can be obtained directly from the colleges concerned.
D) Application Fee: Each applicant must have to attach with his/her application a non-refundable Demand Draft of US$ 50/- (Fifty US dollars) payable to “The Director, Medical Education & HMPD, DGHS, Mohakhali, Dhaka, Bangladesh”.
Only the applications transmitted through Bangladesh Missions abroad will be considered for admission. Applications (Through Missions) must reach the Ministry of Foreign Affairs no later than 10 October 2010.
