Bangladesh Islamic Centre of NSW : Eid Press Release
Eid prayers in Sefton mosque will be organised as usual like every year. If Lakemba mosque announces to celebrate Eid on Sunday, the 20th September then it is very much likely that our masjid’s local ummas will celebrate on that day. If the new moon is not sighted anywhere in Australia on the evening of Saturday then we will not be a part of that celebration on Sunday. Instead we will celebrate on Monday, the 21 September and the prayer will start at 8am sharp.
However, there will be arrangements there for any of our community members wishing to join the prayers on Sunday with the local ummas. There will also be arrangements for the ladies. In that case the prayers will start at 7-30am and the prayers will be lead by the visiting Imam from Lebanon.
In the event of an unlikely third scenario, if we and the Lakemba mosque are celebrating Eid on the same day like either Sunday or Monday based on sighting of the new moon on Australian soil then our local ummas would finish their prayer at an earlier time like 7-30am and then we will start our jamat at 8am led by an imam of our community.
We apologise for any inconvenience, Eid Mubarak to you all in advance.
Fakhruddin A. Chowdhury, President.
