‘Iftar’ in the City

Volunteers needed for Ramadan ‘Iftar’ in the City this Saturday 11 June 2016

Ramadan ‘Iftar’ in the City Civic Square Canberra CitySaturday 11 June from 4.30pm sharp

This inaugural event aims to build understanding about Ramadan amongst the wider community and provides a wonderful opportunity to showcase the diversity in Islam. Invited guests include Minister Yvette Berry, the Grand Mufti of Australia, Archbishop Reverend Christopher Prowse and members of the Diplomatic corps.

There are many sponsors of the event including the ACT Government, Canberra CBD, a range of Embassies and High Commissions and Community organisations.

We require 100 volunteers to assist with the Iftar distribution and the dinner service (Banquet tables). There will be 2 volunteer briefings which will cover the volunteer roles and you can attend one or the other:

1. Thursday 9 June at approx 9pm (following Tarrawee) at CIC – 221 Clive Steele Avenue, Monash.
2. Saturday 11 June at 2pm sharp in Civic Square near the fountain.

Both volunteer briefing sessions will go for a half hour and you are requested to attend inorder to be allocated your role.

The participating Embassies and High Commissions include: Malaysia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iran, Morocco, Egypt, Brunei and Qatar.
