This for your kind information that Bangladesh Environment Network (BEN) has called for observing an International Day of Action on Indian River Linking Project (IDA on IRLP) on 25th May 2012 all over the world especially where Bangladeshi people are living in clusters or a community. Understandably different chapters of BEN all over the world and its global committee in New York have taken special care to organize big rallies in their respective towns and cities in USA, Canada, Australia, Germany, Japan etc.

BEN Australia chapter has organise a program in Canberra on 25 May at 3:15 pm in from UN office in Lyons, Canberra.

In solidarity with the Global BEN’s call, Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA) has also decided to organize a rally at Dhaka centrally on the same day that is 25th May 2012 at 10-00 a.m. at Topkhana road (in front of National Press Club). BAPA regional branches in Chittagong, Khagrasori, Cox’s Bazar, Chandpur, Sylhet, Habigonj, Sunamgonj, Moulvi Bazar, Tangail, Munshigonj, Bajitpur, Uttara (Dhaka), Demra (Dhaka), Gazipur, Barisal, Khulna, Potuakhali, Pabna, Bogra to organize same sort of gatherings locally raising protests against this Indian act aiming at killing the big rivers and destroying the ecology, economy and very existence of Bangladesh and adjacent 09 Indian states. Apart from our branches any BEN member can organize a small to medium sized gathering at his/her place.

I would request all the members of Bangladesh community in every state and cities regional Branches, different program committees and Sub Committees, movements etc to extend their hands towards the organization of this important people’s rally. It will be simple & economic gathering where a basic leaflet will be read out and participants will speak to highlight different sides of the crisis and demands of Bangladesh having a banner behind.

Please call the press people of your area and invite other organizations having interests on ecology, environment, development, human rights, transparency, good governance etc to speak at the gathering. Please mobilize your family members, friends, relatives, colleagues, neighbors and other people of your society encouraging them to join this river saving and country saving effort.
