Australia’s biggest and most popular community fun run _ City 2 Surf was held on
10th August (Sunday). The annual event, which started in 1971, has become a
landmark for Sydney every year, as record 71,000 participants ran/walk/stroll 14 km
from Hyde Park to Bondi Beach on Sunday.
For the first time in 2008 everyone in the City2Surf were provided with a Timing
Chip to tie into their shoe laces. This means you’ll get an exact accurate finishing
time from when your feet cross the start line sensors until they pass the finish line
sensors at Bondi beach.

From Bangladesh Community, a number of fun runners/joggers/walkers participated
every year. There are few highly enthusiastic runners/joggers who have been
participating for more than 10 years and encouraging our community members to join
this major community event. This year, we have participants from as young as 5 yrs
old to 50+.
Among the Bdeshi participants, Ahmed Saber of Bella Vista has performed very
well, who finishes the 14km run in 78 minutes. Other significant performers are,
Nawshad Shah of Quakers Hill, who has been participating for the last 13 yrs has
finished the race in 89 minutes, Md. Sirajul Islam of Quakers Hill finished the race
in 91 minutes.
Congratulation to all successful City 2 Surf 2008 participants.
