Ouderland Memorial Committee organized the concluding ceremony of a month-long film festival on Liberation War titled "Itihash Kotha Koi" on Saturday, the 24th May 2008 at the Community Hall of Bangladesh High Commission in Canberra. The four-hour long exhaustive programme included recitation of poetry and rendering of songs on the War of Liberation in the first half and the show of a feature film "Shyamol Chhaya" in the second half. Dr. Kamal Uddin, Joint Convener of Ouderland Memorial Committee conducted the programme.
Mr Mahbub Hassan Saleh, Counsellor and Acting High Commissioner of Bangladesh High Commission, Engineer Masud Jamaly, a senior citizen of the local Bangladesh community , Mr. Kamrul Ahsan Khan, Convener of Ouderland Memorial Committee and Dr. Kamal Uddin, Joint Convener, spoke at the programme.
Mr. Saleh paid his highest tribute to martyred freedom fighters and to all the valiant freedom fighters who participated in the War of Liberation in different ways. He said that regardless of generations, those who believe in the spirit of the War of Liberation are all virtual freedom fighters. He also said that there is no glass wall between the Mission and the Community who can work hand in hand for the welfare of the country.

Engineer Masud Jamaly described few short but emotional incidents which took place during the War of Liberation. He spoke about freedom fighter Rumi and some of his friends and how courageously they fought in Dhaka city for achieving the independence of Bangladesh. He appreciated the initiative to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of freedom fighters.
Mr Kamrul Ahsan Khan, Convener of Ouderland Memorial Committee told the audience that they would continue their efforts to disseminate information on the true history of the War of Liberation to our community and particularly to the young generation so that they can learn and get inspired from the supreme sacrifice made by the freedom fighters and work with the same spirit to build Bangladesh as a prosperous nation free from poverty and exploitation. He also paid glowing tribute to Mr. Ouderland BP on his death anniversary who died in Australia in the year 2001. He also mentioned that every year the Ouderland Memorial Committee will organize show of at least four feature films carrying message of values for Bangladesh community and Australians in Canberra. Mr. Khan thanked Bangladesh High Commission officials for their support and assistance for the efforts of the Ouderland Memorial Committee since its establishment.

Two local poets Mr Fazal Hasan & Mr Shadat Hussain Manik were present at the program who’s poetry were recited there.
Good number popular songs on the War of Liberation were rendered by local Artists, Ms. Nilufa Akhter Khanom, Mr. Avijit Sarkar, Mr. Saffkat Khan Rupam, Ms. Rana Munir and Mr. Mamun Hasan Khan.
A duet song was sung by Mr. Tarek Safa and Ms. Shama.
Light refreshment was served by the organizers to the full-house audience during the break. The feature film "Shyamol Chhaya" was shown in the second part of the programme.
The entire programme was very well appreciated by the audience.
