During my tenure back in 2012 as a president of Singapore Bangladesh Society, I always had this idea of arranging a seminar at the National University of Singapore (NUS) from some of the successful personalities in Bangladesh. Some of those names includes foreign Secretary Mohamed Mijarul Quayes, Dr. Kamal Hossain, Prof. Muhammad Yunus and many more. NUS and the Lee Kuan Yew (LKY) School has been doing this periodically which has benefits the society as well as the students.
After several rounds of discussion with the society member, it was finally narrowed down to invite Justice Muhammad Habibur Rahman and I had the privilege of arranging this complete event.
It wasn’t an easy task to contact Justice Muhammad Habibur Rahman as I almost tried all my resources to get his personal contact number. However I did not give up and finally my efforts bear fruits, Channel I director Mr. Mamum gave me two personal numbers of the Justice. Finally I spoke to this wonderful person and invited him for the seminar to share his knowledge with our society. He gladly accepted my invitation however he mentioned his health does not allow him to travel and assured me he will do so once he gets better.
I shared this information with LKY School Dean Prof. Kishore Mahbubani more than once and he asked me to come up with a Topic for the seminar so that we can move forward to bring Justice Muhammad Habibur Rahman to Singapore once he gets better. During one of my jogging session with Prof. Kishore Mahbubani in East Coast Park, he reminded me if I have finalized on the topic for the seminar.
On the night of 11th January I was told about the sudden demise of our beloved Justice Muhammad Habibur Rahman, may Allah give his soul peace. May Allah help the members of his family and relatives to cope during this difficult period. Justice Muhammad Habibur Rahman was very kind and extra ordinary person who loved history, Bengali culture and literature and who loved Rabindranath and his creation.
Justice Muhammad Habibur Rahman is not with us today but the people will remember him forever for his excellent contribution to Bangladeshi Society and all Human Being.
